NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Controlling proprietor Amy Adams Strunk says no one with the Titans will ever put on Eddie George’s No. 27 nor the No. 9 of the late Steve McNair again, gamers who helped the franchise by way of its troublesome relocation from Houston to Tennessee to its lone Tremendous Bowl berth.
Strunk announced Wednesday that the franchise will retire both numbers Sept. 15 at their residence opener towards the Indianapolis Colts.
George says he never expected such an honor with out having first been voted into the Professional Football Hall of Fame. That hasn’t occurred but for the operating back who helped Tennessee attain the 2000 Tremendous Bowl. George says it means quite a bit to share the consideration together with his former teammate and pal.
The Titans say this would be the first time an NFL workforce has retired either a No. 9 or 27. McNair and George will be a part of six different former Titans and Oilers whose numbers have been retired together with Warren Moon, Earl Campbell, Mike Munchak, Bruce Matthews, Jim Norton and Elvin Bethea.
