Plume of smoke south of Evergreen prompts “numerous” 911 calls, but is a permitted burn

A thick, white column of smoke rising into the blue skies south of Evergreen prompted numerous emergency calls Sunday morning, however authorities stated to not worry.

The smoke is coming from a permitted burn in Jefferson County that’s being intently monitored, based on Evergreen Hearth Rescue.

The smoke will drift into the valley and down Bear Creek, in line with the hearth company.
