Celebration of life planned for Kendrick Castillo, who was killed in the STEM School shooting

A celebration of life has been scheduled for Wednesday for Kendrick Castillo, the STEM Faculty Highlands Ranch scholar who threw himself at a shooter to save lots of his fellow classmates.

The memorial will happen at 1 p.m. at Cherry Hills Group Church, 3900 Grace Blvd., in Highlands Ranch. The celebration of life is open to the general public,  in response to church officials.

Castillo, 18, was in his ultimate week of his senior yr at the faculty when two college students opened hearth on their classmates in two lecture rooms, injuring eight and killing Castillo.

His father described him as “the best kid in the world.”

Castillo liked fishing, searching, cars and was concerned within the faculty robotics staff.

Gov. Jared Polis recommended Castillo, calling him a “Colorado hero” whose actions saved others.
