3 Colorado ski areas run first chairs today after moving up openings

Three Colorado ski areas celebrated their respective first chairs Wednesday after pushing up their openings — and for considered one of them, it’s the earliest date in 20 years.

Breckenridge, Keystone and Eldora all announced Monday that this season’s snow dumps and constant snowmaking meant they might open earlier. For Breck and Keystone, that meant opening two days early. For Eldora, it was 9.

That is the primary time in 10 years that Breck and Keystone have opened early, based on a launch from the ski areas. The last time Eldora opened this early was 20 years ago.

Ski Cooper also pushed up its opening, now operating first chair Nov. 23.

The ext ski area looking to open is Winter Park on Nov. 14, adopted by Copper Mountain and Vail on Nov. sixteen.
